Centennial Hall- Laboratory Renovation
Watford Engineering provided mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design services for the renovation of an existing laboratory space within Centennial Hall. The project included the installation of two owner-furnished fume hoods and reconfiguration of HVAC systems serving the lab areas.
The existing above-ceiling split system serving both lab rooms was removed. A split-system DX dedicated outdoor air unit was installed to serve the laboratory housing the fume hoods, while a separate split-system DX unit was installed to condition the adjacent lab space. A roof-mounted fume exhaust system was provided, consisting of two fans arranged for primary operation and redundancy, and interlocked with fume hood operation.
Plumbing work included connection of the fume hoods to existing acid waste piping and domestic water systems, extension of existing compressed air to serve the hoods, installation of a new sink with a deck-mounted eyewash, and connection of a sprinkler head to the domestic water system to protect the fume hood room.
